Russia Might Be Behind Those Sonic Attacks on U.S. Government Workers in Cuba and China

Russia Might Be Behind Those Sonic Attacks on U.S. Government Workers in Cuba and China By NATASHA BACH September 11, 2018 http://fortune.com/2018/09/11/sonic-attacks-cuba-china-russia-suspect/ U.S. officials have pinpointed a likely suspect behind the “sonic attacks” that caused brain injuries to American government workers in Cuba and China. According to five unnamed sources, Russia is the main suspect in the ongoing investigation, reports NBC News. Evidence from signals intelligence, which is essentially communications intercepts, has pointed to Russia. The intelligence has been compiled through the work of the FBI, the CIA, and other agencies, but NBC notes that their sources “declined to elaborate on the nature of the intelligence.” The investigation stemmed from unexplained head injuries suffered by 26 employees at the U.S. Embassy in Havana, starting in late 2016. Can Russian hackers be stopped?

Can Russian hackers be stopped? Here's why it might take 20 years By Steve Ranger, https://www.techrepublic.com/ Deterring hackers is almost impossible when the rewards are so great and the risks are so low. Can anything stop them? In the spring of 2015, faced with external cyberattacks on the US of increasing frequency and severity, President Obama made a dramatic announcement. Indeed, the ongoing state of emergency ...

A mountain of evidence...

A mountain of evidence A mountain of evidence points in one direction: Russia sought to sway the 2016 US election Brad Heath, USA TODAY Published 3:22 p.m. ET Aug. 3, 2018 WASHINGTON – For two years, cybersecurity researchers, spies and federal prosecutors have laid out a stunningly thorough chain of evidence to support one simple conclusion: The Russian government sought to sway the 2016 presidential election. Federal agents have traced data and currency trails across continents, revealed inside knowledge of Russian spies’ computer network, and quoted the private emails of employees at a Russian internet firm working to influence voters. Cybersecurity researchers analyzed malware and followed clues buried in the details of stolen emails. Those disclosures have left an unusually detailed public view of Russians' wide-ranging campaign to persuade and divide voters in the months before the presidential election. While the government sometimes shares its conclusions about ...
